His real name is Burnell Keith Herring, Jr. and A.K.-S.W.I.F.T, means "Asiatic Knowledge Swinging With Incredible Force Totally"
Imagine Freestyle-Rap, poetry, and Dee-Jaying, Combine it with a background in classical music including the Viola, Violin, Cello, and Contra Bass, in enrollment in his school's Concert Orchestra, A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. was promoted to the Symphony Orchestra within six months, which got him 1st and 2nd chair honors, participated in three state competition's, and has over one hundred school concerts during his academic career.
In 1983 (years after his introduction to the Hip-Hop Culture) A.K. got involved with a Frankfurt based Break-dance group called "Floor Masters", learned the art of Dee-jayng, and continued to perfect his rapping and writing skills.
In 1994 after the release of "Omen III", the song reached #1 on the German Charts six weeks after the being on the market, and Top 10 Europe Wide, with excellent reviews from magazines like Billboard, Musikmarkt, Bravo, Popcorn, Pop Rocky, and also appearing on TV channels like VIVA, MTV, Disney, DSF, RTL....the list goes on.
Magic Affair continued further success with three other singles: Give Me All Your Love, In The Middle Of The Night and Fire which. All reached Top 20 Europe Wide, and was honored with Gold and Platinum in Germany for "Omen III", Gold In Austria for "Omen III", and Gold in Germany for " Give me all your love", led to a successful album, and won the band the prestigious ECHO AWARD in 1995 for "SINGLE OF THE YEAR". Which on this evening A.K announced that he was leaving "Magic Affair" and pursuing a solo career.
After coming a long way, this Ex-Army Infantry soldier, began a score of releases, beginning in the year 1991. He was pretty successful as a member of Magic Affair. After receiving the German ECHO Award in 1995, A.K. left Magic Affair to start a solo career.
In 1996 A.K released a single "Shake that ass" with the group "C-Block" and another together with the ex-singer from "Magic Affair" (Franca Morgano) "Blaxone" the song was Good times, a cover from the 70's hit group "Chic"
In 1997 A.K teamed up with Booya-Music, and released a single on Toni Cottura's first solo project Song: Da Partyboom, at this time going on tour back-to-back with the "Backstreet Boys" and "N'sync.
Also in 1997 A.K. released his first solo song "Light In Me" feat. Mike Marshall.
Later that year A.K produced a Breakbeat track for inline skater Dirk Auer for his Inline Highspeed World Record with 307km/h on 08.12.1997 in Nardo/Italy behind a Porcshe/Carrera racing car, the song is called"Pick up the speed", the project name was "Inline" featuring rapper "Mad Flava".
In 1998 A.K. teamed up with Rico Sparx, Alley Cat, and Greg MCcoy, and together produced the single "The Professional". At that time A.K. was opening for Usher receiving rave reviews for his performance in various newspapers and magazines.
In 1999 A.K. released another single with Booya-Music titled "It's On"(feat. Craig Smart & Mazaya) which reached #75 on the German charts. The next single "Do you wanna die" was scheduled for release mid-May 2000, but this never happened.
In the beginning of 2001, A.K. signed a deal with "In-Motion AG" record label "Bookmark" , and had completed a project together with "S. Oliver" and the "BBL Allstars" (Basketball Bundesliga) with the song "You Know The Names".
Then, it was a long break again. I 2002, there were rumours of a new album coming in the summer of that year, but then it was quiet again. The fans had to wait for another year, because in June 2003, A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. was coming back, releaseing the single "Here We Come" for the summer of 2003. In the beginning of 2004, A.K. and old producers Danny Sullivan and Martin Prodwhiz found their way to the T-Music. They had news that A.K. was working hard, and was very close to release his own label "Hoodkatz", and that they were working with him again.
Some month later, in April 2004, A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. himself found his way to the old T-Music Forum, and confirmed that he was going to be back very soon. On the 1st of May, the new website www.hoodkatz.com opened, and the fans could breathe easily: A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. is back, better then ever. Coming with the single "Pussycat" for the summer, and finally the solo album will be soon released and the name is going to be "13".
We don't have any information on when the solo album will be released or not. However, on 26/11/2012 : AK Swift announced on his official Facebook that an album entitled Chronicles Of A Ghettoninja was planned for 2013.
Back in 2010 he was on the Legends and Diamond project from Tumbo (Creator of Euro-Rap.com) and you can find on songs like (The World Is) Hard & Cold and Everything Is On Me.
AK also did a collabo with Struggle da Preacher in 2014
